Setting up online classrooms with Pixsar Meet
Moving a class online is mostly about routine. Students need to know where to click, teachers need a room that opens on time, and the school needs a record of who came and what was taught. This guide walks through how we set that up for schools and universities on Pixsar Meet, from the first login to the first recorded lesson.
1. Create your workspace
Sign in at dashboard.pixsar.io with a Google account. When we ask what you will use Pixsar for, choose Online meetings and classes. That creates your meeting workspace: a private space where every room carries your school's name and prefix, so your classes never mix with anyone else's.
2. Put your name on the door
Open Meetings in the left menu and upload your logo, then pick your two colours. Every class page, every lobby and every recording now shows your identity, not ours. Set the name people see for guests who join without a profile, for example "Student".
3. Decide what students can do in a class
The In-call buttons tab is a set of switches. Most schools keep chat, raise hand and reactions on, keep screen sharing for teachers, and turn polls on for larger lectures. Teachers are always moderators: they can mute, remove and record. Students cannot promote themselves, because the role comes from your system, not from the page.
4. Open a room per class
There are two ways to do this and they can be mixed.
- By hand. Create a room for each class in the dashboard and share the join link on your timetable or class group. The same class always gets the same room, so links do not change from week to week.
- From your portal. If you run a student portal or ERP, your developer creates an API key under API keys and follows the integration guide. One call opens the room for a timetable slot, a second call lets a named student or lecturer in. The join button then lives inside your own portal, and attendance is tied to your student numbers.
5. Record every lesson without thinking about it
Turn on automatic recording and every class is recorded from the moment the teacher joins. Under Recordings, choose whether files stay on Pixsar for 90 days or are delivered straight to your own server after each lesson. Universities usually choose delivery, so recordings sit next to the course material in their LMS.
6. Run a rehearsal
Before the first real lesson, open a test class with one teacher account and one student account on a phone. Check the four things students ask about most: can I hear, can I see the slides, can I raise my hand, and does the link work from WhatsApp. Ten minutes here saves a week of support messages.
What it costs
Pixsar Meet is priced 15% below Zoom's list price for the same plan, and branding, recordings and attendance are included rather than sold as add-ons. You can pay by Visa or Mastercard, by mobile money, or by invoice, in your own currency. Our servers are in Germany, hosted with Hetzner, our German hosting partner.
